Ideally the best time to install PPF is when the vehicle is new and free from defects. Rock chips or nibs in the paint can cause blemishes under the film that prevent a perfectly clear install. However, film can be installed on a vehicle of any age so long as the surface isn’t too damaged.

Yes, most modern generations of film come with a self healing layer. This layer allows your film to stay optically clear and free of swirl marks that are typically induced in paint. Currently PPF is the only technology to protect your vehicle with a true self healing option.
